Have I mentioned lately how much I love photographing high school seniors? Well I do and this session is one of my favorites. Mackenzie is a class of 2017 high school senior this year in Las Vegas. We went to Nelson ghost town for her photo shoot. The shoot started off with her in her flowy boho dress which goes so perfectly with the setting out there. Normally wind is a big pain during a shoot but we had just enough to add some pretty movement to her dress and hair. I had a special idea in my head that I wanted to execute for this shoot. We had a beautiful floral garland with garden roses made by Cultivate Goods to liven up the shoot and make it a bit more editorial. I also incorporated a few smoke grenades. We used a blue smoke grenade for the floral images and it made the background look so amazing, almost like she was in the clouds. Then for the last outfit, which was a pink tulle skirt and a black hat and shirt, we used a green smoke grenade while Mackenzie frolicked in the desert. Mackenzie plays guitar so we incorporated that as well and the floral garland made a perfect guitar strap as well.
The final result was a great mix of modern senior portraits as well as more artistic styled portraits with the addition of florals and the smoke bombs. Nelson is such a versatile place with plenty of desert and plant life as well for a mix of scenery.
There are a lot of photos here, I tried to narrow it down as much as I could and this is the best I could do.
